Africans Gone Natural Launches #BornKinkyDealWithit Campaign
Happy Saturday!!
AfricansGoneNatural LLC announced their new #BornKinkyDealWithit Campaign, a mission which aims to encourage the acceptance of Natural hair around the world.
The campaign will target women with natural hair and women transitioning to natural hair around the world in an effort to raise awareness of the Natural Hair Movement and empower women all over the world to embrace their God-given “natural” hair. Natural hair product companies around the world have pledged to support and assist us with this campaign.
Why Born Kinky and Why Now?
AfricansGoneNatural organizing #BornKinkyDealWithIt campaign in response to the #PretoriaGirls protest. The Pretoria Girls protest is a movement that recently started after South African school girls were banned from attending their schools wearing their natural hair; they were told that they could only enter school upon straightening their hair. Thabile, Vilakazi. (2016, September 1). South African students protest against school’s alleged racist hair policy. CNN Post. Retrieved from: http://www.cnn.com/2016/08/31/africa/south-africa-school-racism/. This has sparked outrage within the African continent and the diaspora as a whole. As of September 1, 2016, the school code of conduct discouraging students from wearing natural hairstyles has reportedly been suspended, but this is just the beginning.
We are most interested in bringing light to this case and also to prevent this from happening again in any other country, as we stand firm with the belief that natural hair is beautiful and deserves to be embraced.
In an effort to create more awareness, the #BornKinkyDealWithit campaign will let women worldwide show off their #Afrikinky Natural hair. Natural hair divas will be asked to take a picture with their crowns unleashed with the hashtag #BornKinkyDealWithit added to the picture. We would like to do this in an effort to help girls and women worldwide to #EmbraceTheirAfrikinky.

#BornKinkyDealwithit: Africans Gone Natural’s Campaign
We asked the ladies of the organization to share the top three reasons we should all be paying close attention to the campaign and here is what they had to say about the campaign:
#BKDWI Empowers girls and women to embrace their God given hair!
#BKDWI Educates people on the treatment and maintenance of their hair
#BKDWI Invokes a mindset and cultural paradigm shift on the issue of hair
AGN:Last but not least our mission at AfricansGoneNatural is to help people worldwide internalize that there is more “Beyond the Kink.” Natural hair is only one of the most empowering things that a young girl or woman can possess. Our goal at AFRIKINKY is to help women embrace their natural hair and in term apply their fierceness to other aspects of their lives such as fitness, business, education and spiritual. Our goal is to inevitably incorporate all areas of their lives to empower and excel them to be the very best that they can be, to thrive in this society to help make an impact. We hope that through our #BORNKINKYDEALWITHIT campaign, we can help initiate this movement and help made a change in this world.
